In addition, Halong’s government focuses on developing the tourism industry, so tourism services such as accommodations, restaurants, means of transportation, and entertainment centers here are really various and have reasonable prices.

Ha Long has not only beautiful beaches but also numerous other charming attractions. In particular, it has natural places like Ti Top island, Sung Sot Cave, Thien Cung cave, Dau Go cave, and so on. It also has an entertainment center named Sun World Ha Long Complex, and cultural places like Quang Ninh Museum.

Tourists traveling to Ha Long can experience numerous interesting activities. They can bathe in the sea, take part in beach activities like beach volleyball and sunbathing. Additionally, Ha Long is also famous for delicious cuisine, especially seafood, for example, grilled squids, so travelers can try local seafood here. They also can take photos with spectacular natural scenery to memorize their Ha Long trip.

Best time to visit Halong Bay

Maybe numerous tourists would think that the most suitable time to visit a coastal city like Halong is the summer because the weather is perfectly ideal to swim, sunbathe or sit on a ship to travel a voyage. However, there is a fact that there are many ideal times to travel to Ha Long in a year.

Weather

Ha Long has the typical weather of northern Vietnam. It has four seasons in a year, particularly humid and warm in the spring, sunny and glorious in the summer, cool and bracing in the fall, dry and cold in the winter. However, the most outstanding seasons are summer and winter.

Halong is a coastal city, so it is obvious that the most suitable time to visit is the summertime. In addition, Ha Long’s summertime lingers from the beginning of April to the end of August, and the weather is absolutely flawless. In particular, it will be warm and sunny during this period.

April and May is the beginning time of summer. At this time, the air will not be too hot, the average temperature is fluctuating between 23 and 25 Celsius. When it comes to June, July, and August, the temperature can increase to over 30 Celsius. As a result, the air will be more scorching, and it also will rain in the late afternoon to chase the heat away.

Because of the perfect weather, visitors can experience the summer activities like swimming in the sea or sunbathing if they visit during the summertime.

On the other hand, the wintertime of Halong is exactly like other northern provinces, particularly it is obviously cold, and the average temperature is only 17 Celsius. Because of the high humidity coming from the sea, people may feel extremely freezing when they visit Ha Long in the winter. However, the landscape is still really magnificent, and it also becomes more fantastic because of the miraculous mist appearing in the mornings during the winter.

Even though visitors can not take part in summer’s beach activities at this time, they can gain new experiences by walking along the bracing beaches, eating hot and spicy seafood to chase the cold atmosphere away. They also can visit Quang Ninh museum to know more about their culture, or go to Sun World entertainment complex to taste this theme park’s games, because these places are still open at this time.

Peak Season of Tourism in Ha Long

The rush season of tourism in Halong is July and August, so at this time this city is really crowded and the price of service is extremely high because of a huge number of demands from trippers. Therefore, if tourists want to avoid the crowd, they should visit Halong at the beginning of summer. Moreover, during this period, the price of service is more affordable than that during the crowded period, so customers may bargain if they travel by this time.

Winter is not a suitable time to visit a sea city like Halong, so the number of tourists is not so much. And this is also the time when people living here come back to their normal life, instead of the busy atmosphere in the tourism peak season. That is the reason why visitors coming here in the winter can see another ambiance of Halong.

Moreover, this is also the period when Vietnamese people concentrate on working and studying, so there will be a small number of tourists traveling to Ha Long during this time. However, this is the most common visit time of overseas tourists.

During the Tet Holiday – Sacred Holiday Atmosphere

Visiting Halong during the Lunar New Year vacation is a popular habit of northern Vietnamese people. The length of the trip often lingers for 3 or 4 days.
The most popular activity of visitors when they travel to Quang Ninh at this time is visiting pagodas and temples to pray for good and fortune. In Quang Ninh, there are a lot of famous pagodas, not only for domestic tourists but also for overseas visitors.

Bao Hai Linh Thong Pagoda

This is a Buddhist pagoda, constructed on the peak of Ba Deo hill. From this pagoda, people can see the whole landscape of Ha Long city.

Bao Hai Linh Thong pagoda was designed in the shape of an ancient pagoda in the Hau Le dynasty in the 17th, 18th centuries. Especially, the pagoda’s roofs are shaped like the image of blooming lotuses, and they are tiered, which creates the effect like many layers of lotus coming out at the same time.

Coming here, praying for lucky things, admiring the unique architecture, and staring at the scenery of the coastal city from a high mountain peak on the very first days of Lunar New Year may bring to tourists interesting and peaceful experiences.

Address: Ba Deo hill, Hong Gai, Ha Long, Quang Ninh.

Ba Vang pagoda

It was located on the mountain Thanh Dang’s side with a great position. Ba Vang Pagoda is leaning on the mountain, treading on the water, its left side is Qing Long and the right side is Bai Hu, which means there is a mountain behind the pagoda, a river locates in front of it and the pagoda faces the south-east (due to Eastern culture, Qing Long is the God of the East and Bai Hu is the God of the South). According to FengShui, it is an extremely favorable position to build a pagoda.

Ba Vang is one of the most famous and largest pagodas in Vietnam. Therefore, it is a familiar destination with people who want to have a spring trip to visit sacred places and worship.

Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen Monastery

Truc Lam Zen Monastery is on Yen Tu summit, which is 1068 meters from the sea surface. To enter this monastery, tourists must walk along a special staircase with over 6000 stone steps, and across a bamboo forest. Moreover, this place is related closely to Emperor Tran Nhan Tong, who is one of the most insightful kings in Vietnamese history. After winning against Mongolia, passing down the throne for his son, he went to the temple located on Yen Tu peak to live, and then he created a zen sect named Truc Lam. Nowadays, in Vietnam, there have been nearly 30 factions existing, but the original one is from the Yen Tu peak.

Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen Monastery is an attraction that tourists can not miss if they visit Quang Ninh province. Standing on the high mountain peak, feeling the ancient and sacred atmosphere, praying for good things, hearing the sound of the wind coming from the bamboo forest, and saving the magnificent scenery in your eyes are the best way to call it a day and refresh yourself to welcome a harmonious New Year.
