Perhaps best dining spots in Mai Chau are in one’s hotel or home-stay. The food may be good in some restaurants but nothing beats the family-style Vietnamese cooking in a home-stay. Same to Lon cap nach. They are raised naturally by the minors there. It can be cooked by different ways, but grilling is the best.

A speciality of Muong minors. Bacon is cut into pieces that are equal to knuckles. Every piece is wrapped by half of a grapefruit leave, which then grilled on coal. During the cooking, the flavor of the pork is added by the leaves’ aroma

Five-colored sticky rice

The way of making the dish is similar to cook sticky rice. They wash the rice, then steam it up. The color is created from different kind of rices. The five colors are white, red, blue, purle, yellow.

Stir-fried beef with slender

The hive is collected from forest by locals. It is then brought to their home to make medicine as well as food. It would be stirred with forest bamboo shoot – a speciality of Mai Chau.
