Amarapura in Mandalay

Amarapura, also known as “Taung Myo” – the southern town, is the one of the earliest capitals of last Myanmar kingdom which you should visit. It is spotted at around 11 km south of Mandalay. Although it can hardly find any critical remainders of the antiquated city nowadays, the suburb of Mandalay city still keeps up the customary specialty of silk weaving. The hand-woven silk products are not only proudly worn by local people at auspicious events, but also attract the foreign guests by the rich of its design and color.

U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest wooden bridge, crossing across the east and west of Taungthaman Lake is one of the tourist attraction spots which should not be missed. The Bridge was built over a century ago with the length around 1.2 kilometers and consisted of 1086 teak pillars.
