ProGuide was established in 2016 by RTC – the Responsible Tourism Club – during the tenure of Ms. Nguyen Thuy Duong, former Deputy Director of Eviva Tour Vietnam and then Chair of RTC. The program was founded with a simple yet meaningful mission: to equip young tour guides with a strong foundation of knowledge, practical guiding and tour-handling skills, and a deeper understanding of responsible and sustainable tourism.
Over the years, ProGuide has grown into a trusted learning environment in Vietnam where aspiring guides can build confidence, sharpen their professional mindset, and connect with like-minded peers who share the passion for guiding with integrity and care.

Why ProGuide Matters
Vietnam’s tourism industry is experiencing remarkable growth year after year. In the first 10 months of 2025 alone, the country welcomed over 17.2 million international visitors. This surge not only showcases Vietnam’s growing global appeal, but also highlights a rapidly expanding demand for high-quality tour guides – especially those who are capable of leading foreign visitors with confidence, cultural insight, and a professional approach to group guidance and guest care.
Recognizing this growing need, ProGuide was created as a collaborative initiative led by dedicated trainers with many years of experience in tourism, who have continuously contributed to professional capacity-building through annual training programs. The ProGuide curriculum is diverse and comprehensive, covering essential knowledge and skills for tour guides through classroom sessions, workshops, networking activities, and immersive field trips. The program equips participants with practical guiding techniques, professional conduct and responsibilities, standard procedures for handling on-tour situations, core competencies required of professional tour guides, and a passion-driven mindset for responsible guiding. Participants also learn directly from experts across various tourism-related fields, including rescue and safety, history, religion, culture, wellness… ensuring well-rounded development both in skills and industry awareness.
What sets ProGuide apart is its thoughtful and purpose-driven training structure. True to its name – Professional, Responsible, Outstanding – the program is designed to help young guides grow not only in skill, but also in mindset and character. Instead of isolated lessons, ProGuide unfolds through a well-designed sequence of sessions that combine theory, hands-on practice, and open discussions with experienced trainers. Participants learn essential guiding techniques, storytelling methods, destination knowledge, guest-handling skills, and the values of safety, responsibility, and cultural sensitivity.
This holistic approach ensures that learning does not stop at technical competence. It helps young guides understand their role as cultural ambassadors and custodians of the travel experience, shaping the way they engage with travelers and local communities.
