Ninh Binh is located in a subtropical area with a monsoon climate, with an average temperature of 23.5 degrees Celsius. It has four distinct seasons: Spring, hot and humid summer with a lot of rain, autumn, and cold and dry winter. According to my experience, the most suitable time to visit Ninh Binh are spring and early summer.

In spring, from January to March, the weather is quite fresh, not too cold and rainy (the temperature fluctuates from 16 to 20 Celsius Degrees) which is very convenient for sightseeing and outdoor activities. In addition, it is also an ideal time to visit religious attractions such as Bai Dinh Pagoda, Trang An, Da church. Apart from this, there are numerous festivals to pray for peace and luck. In these festivals, travelers can take part in a lot of folk games and enjoy traditional art performances.

From April to early June and from September to October are the harvest seasons of the year. The average temperature is about 23-28 Celsius Degrees from April to early June and it’s about 25 Celsius Degrees from September to October. At that time, you can take photos of the incredibly beautiful golden rice paddy fields. An added benefit of visiting Ninh Binh from April to early June is that you can see the lotus in Tam Coc – Bich Dong. Besides, it is a great time to enjoy the natural beauty of the caves as well as mountains. From September to October, it’s the perfect time to travel around and experience a memorable trip without worrying about rainfall and potential typhoons.

Also, you should notice that from the end of June to August, it is not good to stroll around Ninh Binh because the weather is quite dull for traveling with high rainfall of about 320 mm. Therefore, if you want to make the most of your trip, try to avoid this period.
