Vietnam is rapidly developing but holds onto the charming traditions and culture which make it such a fascinating holiday destination. History has left its mark on Vietnam by way of Chinese, French and American influence. To meet the nature loving ethnic minorities of the highlands, to experience the quiet inside of pagodas, or to breathe the vivid noise of Vietnam’s historic metropolis Saigon that is once again starting to become "Paris of the East" is an experience of its own. The picturesque landscapes of the Mekong Delta in the south, the most stunning scenery with forested limestone karsts of Ninh Binh, the marvelous Ha Long Bay in the north are waiting to be discovered. And in some cities, especially in Saigon and Hanoi, the distant charm of the French colonial empire seems still hidden behind the many old city mansions and in the tree–lined avenues
