Bakheng Hill is located between Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. The special thing about this hill is there was a Hindu temple located on top of the hill and it is a kind of mountain temple – a popular region at that time. It was built during the reign of King Yasovarman (889-910) at the end of 9th century. Located just only 200m from Angkor Thom South gate, Bakheng – Hindu temple was constructed more than two centuries before Angkor Wat. Bakheng was originally built in the form of a mountain temple to worship God Shiva in their belief. Nowadays, with the nature, majestic and impressive beauty, Bakheng Temple Mountain becomes the most popular spot in the area to watch a classic sunset over Angkor Wat and the surrounding fest.
