Hang Trong Art Inspiration

The style and design of Smarana Hanoi Heritage Hotel are inspired by the art, culture, and beauty of Hang Trong Folk Paintings – one of the most iconic artworks of Vietnam.
Hang Trong painting is a traditional Vietnamese art form that originated in the 18th century in the Hanoi Old Quarter. It is characterized by its use of bright colors, detailed brushwork, and stylized figures. Hang Trong paintings often depict scenes of daily life, religious ceremonies, and folktales.
From the lobby to the guest rooms, every aspect of Smarana Hanoi Heritage is designed to reflect the elegance and rich culture of Hanoi. As soon as you step inside, you will be surrounded by the delicate ambiance of Hang Trong traditional art, with the most prominent being a composite painting of the Chinese character ‘Phúc’ (Blessings) intricately interwoven with images from the series ‘Nhi Thap Tu Hieu’ which narrates 24 stories about historical figures that exemplify filial piety in their treatment of their parents.
The Smarana Hotel features a collection of 72 Hang Trong Folk Paintings created by Mr. Nghien, who worked on it for 3 years. The artworks of painter Le Dinh Nghien are not only visually stunning but also acclaimed as possessing the most ancient Vietnam soul in the world of painting.
Smarana Hotel rooms are uniquely decorated with elegant and artistic elements inspired by traditional Vietnamese styles. Each item in the hotel is also uniquely designed and handcrafted, showcasing meticulous craftsmanship that reflects the charming essence of old Hanoi.
