TIPS
- You can travel to Vietnam any time of year and each season has its own special appeal. The most popular time for travel is between November to April.
- During summer, which is also the monsoon season (May to November) you can expect days to be warm and humid with refreshing afternoon showers. Travel is rarely affected by the rain and everything is lush and green at this time.
- Vietnam is probably the safest place you will visit. But should be carefully. Just keep things close to you.
- Always ask permission first before taking photographs, especially in minority areas.
- Boots/sport shoes, headlights should be prepared for trekking or hard walking itineraries. Hat, sunglasses, camera, insect repellent, etc required should be prepared for all journey.
Tour Plan
Day 1: Ha Noi Arrival (-/-/-)
Arrive in Ha Noi. Transfer to hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you will take a short trip to visit Ha Noi’s Old Quarter with 36 ancient streets, Hang Be market – a typical Vietnamese day market. Back to hotel for rest. Free at your own convenience. Overnight in Ha Noi.
Day 2: Ha Noi – City Tour – Lao Cai (B/-/-)
A morning city tour of Viet Nam’s capital. Ha Noi is a unique city with tree–lined boulevards, French colonial architecture, ancient temples, old pagodas and peaceful lakes. Visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh’s house-on-stilts, One-Pillar Pagoda and Temple of Literature.
In the afternoon, visit Bat Trang ceramic village before transfer to Ha Noi railway station to take a night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on board in Ha Long Bay.
Day 3: Lao Cai - Sa Pa – Cat Cat – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van - Sa Pa (B/-/-)
Arrive in Lao Cai, pick up and transfer to Sa Pa for rest and breakfast. Then, you will have a trek through beautiful landscape surrounded by rice paddy terraces and mountains covered by rain forest under the protection of Hoang Lien National Park. Also you will hear about the life style and tradition of Back Hmong and Giay minorities.
Sapa Trek's guide and driver pick you up at hotel in Sa Pa. You first sneak through the Sa Pa market and leave the busy town behind. After a couple of minutes, you follow a road going downhill to Cat Cat village. You will stop by a waterfall and a hydroelectric station for a while before continuing the trek on a dirt trail through rice paddy terraces. You will also enjoy spectacular scenery while walking along a narrow river. You eventually arrive in Y Linh Ho village of Black Hmong minority, where you can take a rest while you are served lunch nearby the river. After lunch, you head toward Muong Hoa valley. You will pass through Lao Chai village of Black Hmong minority and then Tavan village of Giay minority by following a very popular trekking route. You will return Sapa from Tavan by car. Check in hotel and free for rest. Overnight in Sa Pa.
Day 4: Sa Pa – Sau Chua – Sa Seng – Hang Da – Hau Thao – Sa Pa (B/-/-)
Met up at your hotel by our local guide and driver for a short road transfer along the national road 4D northeastwards to the trekking point. Trekking uphill on a large and rocky path for 2 hours along the narrow valley which runs between two high mountains passing two hamlets of the Black H’mong of Sa Pa Commune: Sau Chua and Sa Seng. The H’mong peoples here have just recently changed their living way from sifting style into the sedentary one. So there are still a lot traces of the past time can be seen: rudimentary houses, stone wall around homes...
Afternoon, continue along the same trail gradually uphill the Den Thang mountain for an hour to Hang Da Village of the H’mong which sits at 1,800m height and over looking down the Muong Hoa Valley. Paying visit to several local homes.
Leaving Hang Da and enjoy easy walk on high elevation for half an hour which offers great view of Muong Hoa Valley until arriving to Thao Hong Den, another village of the Black H’mong. Paying visiting to several local homes. This portion of the trek offers chances for taking the best photos of landscapes.
Getting downhill for another hour along a dirt track to Pho Village at the center of Hau Thao Commune. Picked up and transfer back to Sapa. Check in hotel and free for rest. Overnight in Sa Pa.
Day 5: Sa Pa – Suoi Ho – Ma Tra - Ta Phin – Lao Cai (B/-/-)
Start a short walk downhill through beautiful orchid gardens and pine forests. You will then reach a small village of Suoi Ho is inhabited by Hmong ethnic minority. Their house normally built of land has no windows because of the cold in the winter. Continue your walk through rice paddy fields and spectacular scenery to Ma tra.
Your journey will be mostly driving to Ta Phin village. Here you can experience the unmixed cultural life of Black Hmong and Red Dao minorities, 2 largest ethnic groups in the area. They live happily together while maintaining their own tradition from generation to generation. You can recognize them by dressing while they are both very famous of handicraft. You will enjoy walking among local people. The trip also offers you the opportunity to visit the local houses. At 5:00 pm, you will be transferred to Lao Cai train station, then take the night train back to Hanoi. Overnight on train.
Day 6: Ha Noi – Ha Long (B/L/D)
Arrive Ha Noi at 04:35 AM in the early morning, breakfast in town then car transfer to Ha Long. Enjoy interesting a 4-hour drive to Halong City, visitors will see the rich farmlands, water buffalo and people at work. Arrive in Ha Long wharf at noon. Take a boat trip to visit Ha Long Bay- a world heritage site. Great photo opportunities of shaped islands like Dog island, Incense Burner island, Fighting Cock island and so on. Visiting Sung Sot cave. Having a swim at Titov beach or taking steps for view tower. Enjoy sunset. After dinner, relax, drinking or fishing at your pleasure before spending a night on board. Overnight on board.
Day 7: Ha Long – Ha Noi - Hue (B/Br/-)
Enjoy morning with cake, tea or coffee. More cruising toward ilets of Man’s head, Tortoise and visit Hidden cave by a small bamboo row-boat. Cruising through Bai Tu Long bay and heading back to Ha Long pier. Check out. Have buffet brunch on board. Return to the wharf at noon. Pick up then transfer back to Ha Noi. On the way back to Hanoi, stop to visit the embroidery factory of the disabled with wonderful works at unexpected price. Transfer to Noi Bai airport to take flight to Hue, the former Imperial capital of Vietnam. Transfer to hotel. Overnight in Hue.
Day 8: Hue City(B/-/-)
A boat trip on the romantic Perfume River to visit Hue’s best-known religious site: Thien Mu pagoda, and the Mausoleum of former Emperor Minh Mang and Khai Dinh, built as the plan drawn out by the king himself and on the place chosen by the king too in the middle of the pine forest. Continue to visit Imperial Citadel and Dong Ba market in the afternoon. Overnight in Hue.
DAY 9: HUE – DA NANG - HOI AN (B/-/-)
Depart for Da Nang, the scenic route passes to the wonderfully photogenic fishing village of Lang Co. Arrive in Da Nang, visit Cham museum, the best collection of Cham artifacts in the world. On the way to Hoi An, take a visit to the Marble Mountain, a large garden mount complex and invaluable gift of nature listed as a national heritage. Arrive in Hoi An, a major Asian trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries, free at leisure on the beach. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 10: Hoi An – Cooking Class (B/L/-)
Depart to Tra Que, a charming village which supplies vegetables to kitchens all over the town. Spend the morning working with the villagers as they show you the ways to harvest and prepare fresh vegetables for meals. Learn how to cook a lunch of Vietnamese dishes with your hosts before enjoying the fruits of your labor. Afternoon, take a walking tour of the ancient town centre to visit the former merchants’ houses, the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, ancient pagodas and temples and the colorful market with shopping time. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 11: Hoi An – Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh City (B/-/-)
Leave Hoi An after breakfast to Da Nang airport for a short flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Transfer to hotel. An afternoon city tour of the dynamic Ho Chi Minh City, or Saigon, visit the War Museum, Central Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the bustling China Town. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 12: Ho Chi Minh – Cai Be (B/-/D)
Leaving Ho Chi Minh City, we depart for 2.5 hours to Mekong Delta - the Rice Basket of Vietnam. Our first stop-over is Dong Tam Snake Farm in My Tho City, where you can see a variety of snakes or My Tho Museum-the ideal place for admiring different cultures of ethnic groups in the Southern area. Tien Giang is also the concentration of fruits in the Mekong region. Then, continue to Cai Be commune and descend into a fantastic Ancient house which was built in the beginning of19th century and was combined between French and Vietnamese architectural styles. We check-in the Ancient house and have lunch with great healthy dishes cooked by the hosts in their green and fruity orchard.
Afternoon, start to discover the area by wonderful bike ride. During biking, we will see people at work in their gardens or on the river and for sure will be offered plenty of fruits by friendly locals. Late afternoon, return to the Ancient house and attend in cooking class instructed by the hosts. Overnight in Cai Be (the Ancient house).
Day 13: Cai Be – Ho Chi Minh (B/-/-)
After breakfast at the homestay, board your boat and discover Mekong Delta. Stop to visit Brick & Pottery Factory - Handicraft Village - Floating House Village – Pop-rice, Coconut candy and Rice-paper making workshops - Cai Be Floating market. Back to the homestay afterwards and rest. Stroll around the village, visit either nursery garden or bonsai garden. Back to Sai Gon in the afternoon. Check in hotel and free for rest. Overnight in HCM City.
Day 14: Ho Chi Minh City Departure (B/-/-)
Departure day. Free at leisure until transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for next destination. Tour ends.
