Vietnam Visa-Free Policy for Italian Citizens
In 2025, Italy remains one of the countries whose citizens are eligible for visa-free entry to Vietnam for up to 45 days, regardless of their purpose of visit.

Vietnam initially introduced unilateral visa exemption for Italian nationals on July 1, 2015, allowing stays of up to 15 days without a visa. This period was later extended to 45 days from August 15, 2023, applicable to all types of passports and entry purposes, provided visitors meet the entry requirements set by Vietnamese law.
On March 7, 2025, the Vietnamese Government issued Resolution No. 44/NQ-CP, continuing the visa exemption policy for citizens of 12 countries, including Italy. This resolution is effective from March 15, 2025, to March 14, 2028, and may be extended in accordance with Vietnamese regulations.
Nationalities Eligible for Vietnam Visa Exemption
As of now, Vietnam grants visa exemptions to citizens of 29 countries under unilateral and bilateral agreements. The visa-free stay ranges from 14 to 45 days, depending on the traveler’s nationality.

The new highlight in 2025 is that Vietnam has introduced a special visa exemption policy for citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland. Specifically, from March 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, nationals of these three countries can enter Vietnam without a visa for a maximum stay of 45 days. This visa exemption applies to travelers visiting Vietnam under tour programs organized by Vietnamese-licensed international travel agencies.
In addition, holders of foreign passports are eligible for visa-free entry to Phu Quoc Island for stays of up to 30 days. This exemption remains valid even if they transit through other international airports in Vietnam before arriving in Phu Quoc.
Visa-Free Entry Requirements for Vietnam
To enter Vietnam under the visa exemption policy, travelers must have a passport from one of the eligible countries, which is valid for at least six months from the date of entry and has at least two blank pages.

For stays longer than the visa-free period, travelers will need to apply for a 90-day e-visa or a visa on arrival. Alternatively, they can leave Vietnam for a nearby country and return with a new 45-day visa exemption.
